Risk, Reward, Recovery

<What are you willing to lose in order to gain?>

What’s the nature of the toll?

<Name your price.>

It depends.

I’ll risk my body with little hesitation.

I know my limits so no matter

The choice, for or against,

 I’ll make it quick.

What’s a brief loss

When the gain is predictable?

<And the intangible?>

Hypothetical, mostly.

I remember little about recovery

From such injury,

But I’ve watched my fair share

Of journeys.

They all play out different.

There are common themes,

But the nuances command more attention.

I’m weary of having to climb

Out of those pits,

Or navigate an invisible labyrinth.

Playing with fire is one thing;

Playing with a bomb is another story.

What net gain is there

In suffering so invisible?

<Who said it’s invisible?>

<You forget.>

<The two sides of the coin are connected in the middle.>

<How can you be so sure the halves>

<Are unevenly matched?>

I’m not.
